Our Mission
The Aboriginal Training and Employment Centre (ATEC) of Kamloops, BC delivers culturally sensitive employment services that address the four Employability Dimensions:
Our goal is to assist Aboriginal people in the Kamloops area identify and overcome their potential barriers to employment; find and maintain meaningful employment that fits their skills, abilities, and interests; all while maintaining a professional and responsive agency that meets the needs of our clients.
ATEC strives to achieve our goal by providing the following services:
- Career/Occupational Decision Making
- Skills Enhancement
- Job Search
- Employment Maintenance
Our goal is to assist Aboriginal people in the Kamloops area identify and overcome their potential barriers to employment; find and maintain meaningful employment that fits their skills, abilities, and interests; all while maintaining a professional and responsive agency that meets the needs of our clients.
ATEC strives to achieve our goal by providing the following services:
- Employment counselling and job readiness training
- A job board updated daily
- Information on financial assistance for training and skill enhancement
- Referrals to additional employment and training resources
- Computer access for job search and resume development
- Free resume printing and faxing
Our Participants
- Our services are focused on the Aboriginal population; however, our self-directed services are open to everyone
- ATEC averages 300 client visit per months
- On average, 250 clients are actively working with a case manager at any time
- Approx. 80% or our clients are status First Nations and 20% are either Non-status First Nation or Metis
